Realizing a void in the high performance athletic shoes market, Adolf Dassler began producing them in the backroom of his mother’s laundry business in Herzogenaurach Germany in 1925 . The quality, styling and reputation of the Dassler shoe quickly gained momentum and saw its first appearance in the Olympics and gold metal athlete in 1928. The Olympics of 1936 was another milestone as Adolf and his brother Rudolf were able to persuade American athlete, Jesse Owens, to wear their shoes—he was to go on and win four gold metals. Yardley of London, usually referred to simply as Yardley or Yardleys , is an international English-based company and one of the oldest firms in the world to specialize in cosmetics, fragrances and related toiletries products. Established in 1770, Yardley was a major producer of soap and perfumery by the beginning of the 20th century. By 1910, it moved to London's Bond Street, and in 1921 Yardley received its first Royal Warrant. Today, Yardley holds two Royal Warrants.
Yardley's collections are mainly based on linear, singular scents. The most popular fragrances are English Lavender, Lily of the Valley, English Rose, Peony and Iris with new lines being added on a regular basis. The edition from 2011, Yardley's Royal English Daisy, was inspired by the Royal Wedding and Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge.
